It’s that time of the year again, when everyone is thinking about the holidays and are beginning to get into that mood to give to friends, family and others in need.
One area people may not be aware of that usually gets overlooked is the felines of Scott County.
Scott County has a new Cat Adoption Facility located at 1202 South Taylor Mill Road in Scottsburg, just off of State Road 56 and off South Boatman Road.
Cats and kittens may be the special gift for your family.
Cats that are adopted through the facility can be done so at $45 which includes the spay/neuter, rabies, vaccinations, worming, feline leukemia/fiv combination testing and flea treatment. All the cats/kittens at the center are well socialized. These cats are adopted to be inside only cats and may be taken home the day of adoption.
Coming to the facility with the cats/kittens gives a wonderful opportunity to learn the individual personalities of the cats and help determine which will fit best in the adopter’s home.
The cats/kittens come directly from the animal shelter. None are accepted at this location. The Scott County Humane’s Society’s mission is to aid the Scott County Animal Sehtler and this facility acts as housing for many very nice cats that have run out of time at the Scott County Animal Shelter. The pets at this adoption center are hand-selected from the many homeless cats that are trapped or turned in. The facility is only able to accommodate a limited number of cats so as one is adopted form this location, they are able to select another to take its place.
Christmas is around the corner and donations of dry cat food, litter, cleaning supplies and cat toys are always needed. Tax deductible financial donations are also badly needed to help purchase vaccine and health supplies for the cats. Medical supplies are very expensive and absolutely necessary to keep the pets healthy until they find their new homes. Volunteers are always needed to keep the many phases of the humane society operating.
Hours of operation are from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
