Coming off a three game losing streak, and finding themselves at the bottom of the MSC race, the Scottsburg Warriorettes looked to right the ship against the visiting New Washington Lady Mustangs.  Scottsburg got back on the right foot as they played a solid game to defeat New Washington by a score of 67-59, on Saturday, November 28.
The nights action opened up in Scottsburg’s favor, as they jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead over New Washington.  The Lady Mustangs seemed to have no answer for the Warriorettes’ post presence as they were dominated on the offensive boards, giving Scottsburg several second chance points.  Nearing the end of the quarter the Warriorettes had opened up a nine point lead and looked to be in control of the entire game.  However, the Lady Mustangs fought to keep it close as they cut the lead to only five at the end of the quarter 17-12.
The momentum from the end of the second period carried over for the Lady Mustangs as they found a rhythm in their shooting.  Also some great defense forced the Warriorettes into several turnovers, and soon the Lady Mustangs found themselves with the momentum and a share of the lead 19-19.  After a Scottsburg free throw gave the Warriorettes their first point in nearly four minutes, they began to stretch their lead again.  However, the Lady Mustangs refused to go away and stayed within two points until the final two minutes.  In those final minutes, Scottsburg once again pulled away with a big run giving them a 34-26 halftime lead.
The third quarter was opened with a bang by Scottsburg as they stretched their eight point lead to 15 in the blink of an eye.  Several times the Lady Mustangs attempted a run, lead by some hot shooting from the field, but Scottsburg seemed to have an answer each time New Washington got any momentum going.  The Warriorettes ended the quarter with a 55-42 lead.
In the final quarter of play New Washington once again attempted to spoil the party for the Warriorettes.  Behind some good three point shooting they cut the lead down to within six points at one time.  However, Scottsburg proved to be too much and took the victory 67-59.
Scottsburg improved to 2-3 on the season as New Washington dropped to the same record of 2-3.  Leading the way for the Warriorettes were Wampler with 22, Hutchinson 12, Means 12 and Dawson 10.  The Lady Mustangs were led in scoring by Johnson who scored 32.
