Tyler Byrne confirmed himself as an elite runner in an awesome performance this past weekend at the Nike Midwest Regional Meet held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute. The Varsity Race had 277 of the best runners in it from the states of Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Missouri competing for a chance to advance to the Nike National Race in Portland, Oregon later this year. The top two teams and the top five individuals advance to Oregon for the Nike Nationals. Tyler was the runner-up with a strong 2nd place overall finish with a time of 15:14, gaining ground on the # 2 runner in the nation Zach Wills from Ohio all the way to the shoot.
Both Tyler and Zach broke the course record at Terre Haute with hay bales being used throughout the challenging course.
