Autumn has officially arrived, and leaves are starting to collect on lawns throughout Charlestown.
The Charlestown Sanitation Department reminds residents that biodegradable yard waste– including leaves, grass clippings and other organic materials– must be disposed of in biodegradable bags in order to be picked up.
The Clark?Floyd Landfill and Cristiani Mulch no longer accept yard waste in non?biodegradable packaging.
Biodegradable bags for yard waste are available for purchase at the Jay C Store, Western Auto, Walmart, Lowe’s and Home Depot.
