?Once again, judges of the 2008 Miss Scott County Fair Queen Pageant have the perplexing job of selecting the county’s new Queen as well as Fair Princess on Monday night, July 14.
The competition, which is marking its 50th year, will take place following the 2008 Little Miss and Little Master of Scott County contests. Those events start at 6 p.m., but folks are urged to come early to get good seats at the fairgrounds grandstand for all three competitions.
Cost to attend is $8 per adult and $5 for children 12 and under. Contestants will have free admission.
Fourteen young ladies are in this year’s pageant. The new Queen will be crowned by 2007 Miss Scott County Fair Queen Aarika Hutton as will the new Fair Princess. Queen Aarika will also present Miss Congeniality, a girl selected from contestants by those participating, with her flowers and trophy.
The group is a good mixture of vivacious young ladies, each of whom is eager for the pageant to begin. They’ll start the night with a dance number choreographed by Pam Rowden of Starlight Dance Studio. Members of the Pilot Club of Scott County will be on hand to help the girls as they compete. Pilot Club members have organized the annual pageant for many years.
Queen candidates will model their professional attire as well as beautiful formals each has selected for this important contest. They’ll also be answering impromptu questions on stage.
