Pirate fans were sure this would be an easy win but Silver Creek fans knew better.
After several days of showers, the night was the perfect night for football.
Scott Grether ran in for the first Dragon touchdown and senior, Chad Marejka ran in for the two point conversion.
Anthony Everage scored the second touchdown bringing the score to 14-0. Dragons were unsuccessful on their second attempt at a two point conversion.
The Dragon defense played really tough. Junior Brady Isenberg and senior, Anthony Everage really stepped up and once again had a big night on the defensive line.
Charlestown went to the air and caught Silver Creek in a blitz and made the Dragons pay said Dragon defensive coordinator, Kevin Brooks.
“They really executed on some big plays in the air. Charlestown scored with about a minute left in the game to tie it up at 14-14. The Pirates then attempted a two point conversion but the Dragons defense stopped them and the two teams went into overtime,” he added.
In the second overtime, Grant Farly scored a touchdown on the quarterback sneak and Silver Creek won 20-14.
“The competition between Charlestown and Silver Creek is sure to become a great rivalry in years to come,” Coach Brooks concluded.
