The City of Charlestown will soon be moving full speed ahead preparing for this year’s Christmas season.
This year promises to be the best and most exciting Christmas yet. The Charlestown Parks and Recreation Department along with The Charlestown Beautification Committee, local churches and city employees are working hard to plan and organize several events to provide family entertainment.
Light Up Charlestown will be a great evening to create family memories. They are looking for anyone who would like to be a member of the Community Choir. The Choir will perform at light-up November 27.
They are looking for 200 or more people who will be a part of the celebration. They will practice at the Arts & Enrichment Center on Tuesdays, November 10 and 17, 7 to 8:30 p.m. The choir will lead the children in singing Christmas carols before the countdown and they will sing “The Hallelujah Chorus” after the lights come on.
The choir will be led by Theresa Smith from the LDS Congregation in New Albany. Everyone who wants to be a part of the choir is encouraged to call The Mayor’s Office at 256-3422, extension 3 to sign up for the Choir. They would like to fill the hillside with songs of the season. It will be an awesome experience to be a part of this event.
They also are looking for entertainment for Friday and Saturday nights in Greenway Park. They are having a Santa’s Workshop and Carriage Rides on those nights and want the community to be a part of this celebration.
