Teenager anticipating graduation from AHS dies in two-vehicle crash Thursday PDF Print E-mail

A youth who had just turned 19 and was looking forward to his high school graduation at the end of May was buried Tuesday, April 3.
Matthew Charles “Matt” Nugent died at the scene of a two-car crash in front of his family’s home that occurred just before 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 29. The accident took place on Slab Road, perhaps 75 feet north of the road’s intersection with Lori Lane, and just north of the property of New Providence Baptist Church and its cemetery.

Washington County Sheriff Claude Combs said it appears that both speed and alcohol were factors in a fatal traffic accident that took place in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 14.

Emily Brishaber loved softball from the moment she started playing.
She took that love and developed her talent and now the sport is taking her places, literally.
The Salem High School junior-to-be recently played in the East/West All-Start game and is a member of a traveling team that is spending this week in Panama competing in the World Series.

This is where you will find him, center stage, surrounded by kids.  After nearly 40 years of acting, teaching, writing, and directing theater, he can’t imagine being anywhere else but he knows it is time to usher in the next season of his life.  Chris Bundy’s passion for teaching, theater, and pushing students to strive for excellence are what have taken an already very good theater program at Floyd Central High School to a whole new level of national as well as international recognition.  And as with any large amount of success, it comes at a cost of countless hours of hard work and dedication.
